Bahamas family-of-5 hotels

The Bahamas family market is dominated by two mega-complexes on and near Nassau: Atlantis on Paradise Island and Baha Mar on Cable Beach. Both sell water parks as hard as rooms — and both split into separately-sold sections, so the section you book decides the room you get. Verdicts are for 2 adults + kids 5, 8, 11, from official per-room data.

Bahamas-specific gotchas

  • Atlantis is not one hotel. The Royal, The Coral, The Beach, The Reef, The Cove and Harborside are separate products with separate listings. A room in one section is not a room in another, and per-room occupancy differs by section.
  • Fees stack on top of the room. Nassau's big resorts add daily resort fees, VAT and per-person charges that booking listings surface late. A villa with a kitchen can beat two hotel rooms once fees and food are counted — check the dated fee facts on each hotel page.
  • Day guests share the water park. Aquaventure and Baha Bay sell day access, including to cruise passengers. The slides your kids counted on will be busiest on port days.
  • Villas change the math. Harborside-style villa units publish occupancies of 8–10 with full kitchens — for a family of 5 they are often the honest one-unit answer instead of two standard rooms.
