Miami & Fort Lauderdale family-of-5 hotels

South Florida's big beach resorts market hard to families, but the standard room at most of them still caps at four. The fifth bed lives in the suite tiers — or in the fine print of a rollaway policy. We checked the per-room occupancy and bed data on each resort's official site, with verdicts for 2 adults + kids 5, 8, 11. Note the geography: this list runs from Miami Beach up through Sunny Isles and Hollywood, which are separate stays, not one neighborhood.

Miami-specific gotchas

  • "Miami" spans three beach towns here. Miami Beach, Sunny Isles and Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale are 20–40 minutes apart by car. Pick the resort first, then check the map — a great room in the wrong town costs you a drive every day.
  • Resort fees and parking stack fast. Miami Beach resorts typically add a nightly resort fee plus some of the priciest valet parking in Florida. Where a property publishes them, we record the figures on its page as dated facts — compare totals, not headline rates.
  • The sleeps-5 answer is almost never the base room. Standard kings and queens at these resorts are built for 2–4. If a family room or suite is the only category that fits five, that is what our verdict says — we never stretch a four-person room into a five-person claim.
  • A rollaway is a policy, not a bed count. Several resorts allow a fifth guest on a rollaway for a nightly fee. We count only named beds, and flag the rollaway fee where the official site publishes it.
